By booking and attending a sauna or cold plunge session with Mersea Sauna, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions. These exist to ensure the safety, hygiene, and enjoyment of all guests.

1. Health Waiver and Medical Conditions

1.1 Personal Responsibility

All persons use the sauna and cold plunge facilities at their own risk. Mersea Sauna accepts no liability for injuries or health issues resulting from use, unless caused by negligence on our part.

1.2 Medical Suitability

If you have any health concerns or underlying medical conditions, it is essential that you consult your GP before making a booking or using the facilities.

1.3 Use of the Sauna is Strictly Prohibited if You

  • Suffer from high or low blood pressure, heart or circulatory disorders

  • Are pregnant

  • Suffer from epilepsy, diabetes, dizziness or fainting

  • Have any fungal infections, open wounds or contagious skin conditions

1.4 Children

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to use the sauna under any circumstances.

1.5 Jewellery and Clothing

To prevent burns or injuries:

  • Remove all hanging jewellery before entering the sauna

  • Do not wear swimwear containing metal

2. Use of Facilities

2.1 Alcohol and Nudity

Alcohol consumption and nudity are strictly prohibited. Mersea Sauna reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone who appears to be intoxicated.

2.2 Cold Plunge Use

Cold plunge tubs are available during every booked session. Please shower before entering the plunge tub.

2.3 Swimming in Crosby Marine Lake

Swimming is only permitted during designated sessions booked directly with Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. Mersea Sauna is not responsible for any unauthorised use of the lake.

3. Sauna Etiquette and Safety

All guests must follow sauna etiquette at all times to ensure a safe and respectful environment.

3.1 Hygiene and Preparation

  • Remove footwear and wash feet using the bucket provided before entering

  • Remove all make-up and skincare products

  • Do not use the sauna if you have dyed your hair within the last 72 hours

3.2 Inside the Sauna

  • Enter and exit the sauna carefully and consider other guests

  • Keep access points clear at all times

  • Sit on a towel at all times

  • Limit sauna sessions to a maximum of 15 minutes (we recommend 5–15 minutes)

  • Pour water gently over the rocks – drizzle, do not dump

  • Use only the provided “sauna water” – no oils, scents or other substances

  • Do not touch the stove, rocks, or protective cage

  • Glass bottles are not permitted – bring a reusable water bottle and leave it in the changing area

3.3 Changing and Photography

  • If using the changing room, please change within your allotted time slot

  • Be respectful of others when taking photos or videos – seek permission before including others in your images

4. Group Bookings

If you are booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to

  • Share these Terms and Conditions with all participants

  • Ensure all members of the group use the sauna responsibly and respectfully

5. Personal Property

Mersea Sauna is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of any personal belongings brought onto the premises.

6. Admission Policy

Mersea Sauna reserves the right to refuse entry or remove individuals from the premises if

  • They appear intoxicated

  • They fail to comply with these Terms and Conditions

  • They pose a risk to health, safety, or wellbeing

Refunds will not be issued to anyone refused admission.
